Is The Imei Number The Same As The Serial Number

Your SIM, or Subscriber Identity Module, does have a number associated with it, called a SIM serial number (SSN). This number is also referred to as the integrated circuit card identifier (ICCID). ICCIDs are stored in the SIM cards and are also engraved or printed on the side of the card. The number can be up to 19 digits long and contains information about your operator, your location, and when it was made. The SIM is used to identify the subscriber with a different unique number, the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI).

Your International Mobile Station Equipment Identity (IMEI) number is different from your SSN, ICCID or IMSI. It is a unique serial number given to a device when it is manufactured that identifies a device on a mobile network, but not the subscriber. If your phone is stolen and you alert your carrier, they can blacklist the IMEI and prevent its use on all mobile networks even if a new SIM card is used.

2. Just underneath where it says "iPad" you'll find small writing. You may need a magnifying glass to read it. Your serial number will be included there, as well as the IMEI, if it's an iPad cellular model.

For the most part, this number helps manufacturers keep track of their products, Samsung explains. If you send your device in to be serviced, you may be asked for the serial number because it can also be used to verify whether the warranty on your device is active. Moreover, the serial number helps ensure that your device isn't counterfeit and can also help you find it if it's lost or stolen.

According to Best Buy, many Android phones come with the serial number printed on the back of the device. Turn your phone over and check there. If your phone has a removable battery, the serial number may also be printed underneath it.

If you buy a used Android phone, you may be asked about its IMEI number or MEID. IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. Verizon explains that the 15-digit number is a bit different from your serial number in that an IMEI number is unique across all smartphones, while serial numbers are used by individual manufacturers. Before you purchase a used phone, you can check the IMEI number to find out if it has been stolen or locked. To find the IMEI number or MEID on your Android phone, you can generally follow the same steps listed above. Sometimes, the IMEI is printed on the outside of the phone. Other times, you may need to go into your settings to find it.

IMSI = International Mobile Subscriber Identity. This is a unique identifier that defines a subscriber in the wireless world, including the country and mobile network to which the subscriber belongs. It has the format MCC-MNC-MSIN. MCC = Mobile Country Code (e.g. 310 for USA); MNC = Mobile Network Code (e.g. 410 for AT&T), MSIN = sequential serial number. All signaling and messaging in GSM and UMTS networks uses the IMSI as the primary identifier of a subscriber. The IMSI is one of the pieces of information stored on a SIM card.ICCID = Integrated Circuit Card ID. This is the identifier of the actual SIM card itself - i.e. an identifier for the SIM chip. It is possible to change the information contained on a SIM (including the IMSI), but the identify of the SIM itself remains the same.IMEI is short for International Mobile Equipment Identity and is a unique number given to every single mobile phone, typically found behind the battery.IMEI numbers of cellular phones connected to a GSM network are stored in a database (EIR - Equipment Identity Register) containing all valid mobile phone equipment. When a phone is reported stolen or is not type approved, the number is marked invalid. MSISDN = Mobile Station ISDN number. This is the full phone number of a subscriber, including the national country code (e.g. 1 for US, 44 for UK, etc.). The purpose of the MSISDN is simply to allow a device to be called. A subscriber can have multiple MSISDNs (e.g. one phone number for business, one for personal calls, one for fax, etc.), but generally only one IMSI. The MSISDN does not need to be stored on the SIM card. In cases where it is stored on the SIM, the main reason is so that the user can use check to see what their own MSISDN is (in case they forget). The MSISDN is never signaled to of from the device.

As an Intune admin, you can identify devices as corporate-owned to refine management and identification. Intune can perform additional management tasks and collect additional information such as the full phone number and an inventory of apps from corporate-owned devices. You can also set device restrictions to block enrollment by devices that aren't corporate-owned.

As an Intune admin, you can create and import a comma-separated value (.csv) file that lists 14-digit IMEI numbers or serial numbers. Intune uses these identifiers to specify device ownership as corporate during device enrollment. Each IMEI or serial number can have details specified in the list for administrative purposes.

To create the list, create a two-column, comma-separated value (.csv) list without a header. Add the 14-digit IMEI or serial numbers in the left column, and the details in the right column. Only one type of ID, IMEI or serial number, can be imported in a single .csv file. Details are limited to 128 characters and are for administrative use only. Details aren't displayed on the device. The current limit is 5,000 rows per .csv file.

Some Android and iOS/iPadOS devices have multiple IMEI numbers. Intune only reads one IMEI number per enrolled device. If you import an IMEI number but it is not the IMEI inventoried by Intune, the device is classified as a personal device instead of a corporate-owned device. If you import multiple IMEI numbers for a device, uninventoried numbers display Unknown for enrollment status. Also note:Serial Numbers are the recommended form of identification for iOS/iPadOS devices.Android Serial numbers are not guaranteed to be unique or present. Check with your device supplier to understand if serial number is a reliable device ID.Serial numbers reported by the device to Intune might not match the displayed ID in the Android Settings/About menus on the device. Verify the type of serial number reported by the device manufacturer.Attempting to upload a file with serial numbers containing dots (.) will cause the upload to fail. Serial numbers with dots are not supported.

When a device's ownership type is changed from Corporate to Personal, Intune deletes all app information previously collected from that device within seven days. If applicable, Intune will also delete the phone number on record. Intune will still collect an inventory of apps installed by the IT admin on the device and will still collect a partial phone number for the device after it is marked as personal.

Typically, a Universal Product Code (UPC) is the number (or code) that is unique to a product and it is universal to it. That means the exact same number is used no matter where the product is being sold, you could take a product you buy from one store and it would still be valid in another store.

This is also usually the number with the bar code that is printed on the packaging or cover of the item. Examples include the number printed on the can of a coca-cola bottle or on the wrapping of a cereal bar.

A Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) is a store specific number and would only be valid at the store where it is being sold it would not be universal. This is usually predetermined by the owner of the store and is it a unique product code used by his/her business.

However, for many small business/store owners, they usually end up using the UPC as the SKU number as there is no reason for creating a new SKU. In fact, they can already track the quantity of the goods just by using the existing UPC.

A Serial Number is a sequential number that is assigned to a single item of a product. The serial number will only be for that one single item. It is there so you can track ownership and warranty information of that item. Serial numbers are common with electronic products.

If you were talking about garments, all red size eight blouses would have the exact same SKU and UPS from the maker for a particular style. Cars and appliances such as TVs and refrigerators would also share skus and upcs, but each would have a unique serial number that is used when requesting repair or other related services.

With your Surface Duo 2 closed and the triple lens rear-facing camera facing up, insert the SIM ejector tool into the small hole on the bottom of the left screen, and then gently press in to eject the SIM card tray. Gently pull the SIM tray out to find the serial number on the inside of it.

On a Windows 10/11 PC: Select Start , then select Surface in the all apps list. Select Surface Headphones or Surface Earbuds > Device information. The serial number is listed there.

You can find the serial number for your Type Cover near the center or to one side of its spine (the area that attaches to your Surface). The serial number is a string of numbers that looks something like this:XXXXXXXXXXXX

The Microsoft Accessory Center app shows the serial number for the Microsoft Modern audio and webcam accessories. It also shows the serial number for other Microsoft accessories. Open the app, select the accessory, and then select Device details.

The phone device consisting of a SIM card is recognized by a dedicated IMEI number. IMEI consists of 15-digit numbers that are guaranteed unique and accepted globally. For your information, the device with two sim card slots will have two globally unique (15-digits) IMEI numbers. 2ff7e9595c
